(Brief version)
ACTION AXES
1st - To strengthen and to go
along with the families in the exercise of their rights.
The objective is to strengthen the role of the family, bringing
orientation and training in topics linked to the upbringing of the
children and to the valuation of each one of its members. We do it
through community actions: Workshops of reflection and debate for
the families; recreation, artistic workshops and school support
for children and teen-agers; and recreation meetings for the
community.
There are
105 children who attend different
activities in the “Tía Kikí” Center.
For the youngest
The “Tía Kikí” Center is a space
of contention for children from 45 days old, were it is possible
to detect lacks, preventing disruptions that could become
irreversible dysfunctions.
Achievements:
20 families received
resources to complete their food requirements; 40 parents
took part in informative and formative meetings; 3 cases of
malnutrition were detected and already overcome; 3 moms
affected with Chagas are followed in their medical treatment; 4
families that went through traumatic situations - fire of
their houses; death of one of their children; abandon of one of
the parents - have received support.
With the older and teenagers
Several participation spaces were
developed. They allow not only to answer a punctual need, but and
particularly, to favor the knowledge and the exercise of the right
of children in space were it is possible for them to be children.
In the Workshops of School Support, Artistic Expression, Music and
Chorus, children can develop their capabilities, favoring
the wish to create, express and communicate.
Achievements:
All the 84 children that attended the school support
workshops have been promoted to the following school period; a
Chorus conformed by 22 children was formed and they are
preparing public performances in Colonia Urquiza, Buenos Aires and
the Cathedral of La Plata; 18 children attend the “Yo soy”
orchestra; 16 children worked on the mural allusive to the
recognition of the difference.
With parents
There are possible meetings where
not only specific items are approached, but where it is possible
to discover new possibilities, developing abilities and
capabilities to follow the upbringing and education of the
children.
Achievements
180 parents attended 8
workshops on prevention on home accidents, prevention of
intoxications, self medication and household medicine, prevention
and treatment of different diseases, first aids, alimentation and
nutrition, home violence.
With the community
The objective of the meetings is
to promote the community participation, allowing building
citizenship and generating decision spaces in the processes of
transformation.
Achievements
270 people took part in
different activities: elaboration of a program to prevent the
Hantavirus infection that affects the area; festive and
recreational activities that involve the whole community bringing
a space for meeting between different ethnic groups of the area.
Support for the Family in
Difficulty
In order to prevent family
disintegration and the location of the children in an institution,
the Fundación Emmanuel goes along with the families in situation
of risk, helps them to overcome their difficulties and to value
their own possibilities in order that they themselves become the
protagonists of their trans-formation.
Achievements:
3 families helped by
solidarity loans in the reconstruction of their houses; 4
children with special needs could accede to school and medical
specialized services thanks to a transport provided by Fundación
Emmanuel; 17 families orientated followed in relation of
the obtaining documents, pensions, social resources, vacancies in
schools, by the facilitation of the access to resources; 8
families punctually supported before emergency situations:
food, clothes, building materials, medicines; 6 families
received therapeutic support, according to their specific
problematic; 10 families reached a resolution according to
the problematic of the child; 27 families accompanied in
their context could reorganize the familiar dynamic and could form
a net of families in their area, promoting the solidarity
communitarian help.
2nd - Promotion and diffusion
of Foster Care
We call on and ensure the
formation of families who are ready to share their family space
with children and teenagers who cannot live with their families.
We help children to re-establish harmonious links with their
origins.
This is the reason why we escort, both, the origin families and
the foster families. Foster care is not considered as a definitive
solution, and it is always encouraged from the hope that families
can overcome their difficulties.
Achievements
We have received: 230 requests
for information; 57 requirements on punctual situations; 46
solicitudes about the requirements for becoming a Foster
Family; 18 processes of diagnosis and preparation for
Foster Care; 26 following of families involved in the
Foster Care process (Foster Families, reference families and
escort families); 5 families were incorporated as Foster
Families.
3rd - Academic Activities
The different activities allow
preparing the operators of other governmental and nongovernmental
organizations at the same time than transferring the experience
developed along twenty years of itinerary for its replication.
This axis is developed by advising, conferences, workshops and
assistantships.
As an example, we can underline that we have exposed in: the
Encuentro 2006 – Villa Giardino, Córdoba, of the Departamento de
Laicos de la Conferencia Episcopal Argentina; Jornadas de
Formación sobre Niñez en Riesgo: “Desafíos y Oportunidades en el
trabajo con la Niñez”; Post-Grado de Ciencias Sociales –
Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires: Ley Nacional de Protección
de Derechos del Niño 26.061; Seminario sobre: “Infancia,
Adolescencia y Drechos Humanos, Ley Nacional de Protección 26.061
– Universidad Nacional de La Plata; Taller de profundización para
abordar la problemática de las familias en crisis desde el
Acompañamiento Familiar y el Acogimiento en Familia. Fundación
Emmanuel, Sede Ciudad de Buenos Aires; we have been consulted by
the Committee on the Rights of the Child of the United Nations on
the Guidelines of the United Nations for the Protection and
Alternative Care for Children deprived of Parental Care; and we
have also been consulted by Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar
Familiar Colombia; Gobierno de la ciudad de Buenos Aires: Consejo
de Protección de Niñas, Niños y Adolescentes y Defensoría de
Niños; Dirección Acción Social, Municipio de San Martín; Consejo
Provincial de la Mujer; Comunidad de Familias Acogedoras de
Castilla, La Mancha; Asociación Civil “El Arca”; Hogar “Estrella
Azul”; Instituto Para Niños Sordos “El Próvolo”; Asociación Civil
“Dulce Refugio”; Capilla Nuestra Sra. del Carmen de Del Viso;
Estudiantes de distintas carreras y universidades: Universidad de
La Plata, Licenciatura en Comunicación Social y Bellas Artes;
Universidad de Buenos Aires, Trabajo Social; Universidad Católica
de La Plata, Relaciones Públicas; Universidad Nacional del
Nordeste, Trabajo Social.
14 students and professionals took part in assitanships and
training of volunteers.
371 students,
professionals and volunteers
took part in the different activities.
STRATEGIC
ALLIANCES
To conform alliances with
organizations and enterprises with social responsibility allows to
canalize solidarity and integrated actions towards a sustainable
development.
We underline the co-participation of: La Caja de Ahorro y Seguro,
Human Reasons, Alfavinil, Elementos Esenciales, Grupo de Amigos de
Fundación Emmanuel, Fundación Martyn Bennett Trust (Scotland),
Solvay Indupa and Comunia.
ANNUAL DINNER
On June 21st took place the
Annual Dinner 2007. We want to express our recognition to Mr. and
Mrs. Koenraad Rouvroy, Ambassador of Belgium in Argentina, who
bring us their support with their permanent presence and thrust us
to keep on going.
